2018 Root Health Workshop

Underperforming crops? Find out what’s affecting the roots.

Do you know how to check if your crops have healthy root systems?

Can you score nodulation on your pulse crops?

Did you know pulses can be affected by root diseases?

If you are unsure about any of the above, then you are invited to attend a half day workshop at Keith on 28th August, conducted by SARDI with support from SAGIT and the MacKillop Group.

The workshop is open to growers and agronomists, with a limited number of places available.

Attendees are required to bring plant samples from one good and one poor performing area within two crops (cereals or pulses). Plant pathologists will show you how to assess root health.

The workshop will include examples of:

Root disease on chickpea and faba beans previously undetected in SA broadacre crops.
Nodulation in pulses and provide an opportunity to discuss the issues affecting your farming system.

Plants scored at the workshop will be collected by SARDI and assessed tested by PREDICTA B. The results and interpretation will be sent to the respective grower within 3 weeks to backup the visual diagnosis.

Cost: $35 morning tea and lunch included.

Registration closes on Sunday August 19th

Register via Eventbrite at this LINK

Following registration we will send you instructions on how to collect the plants and appropriate sample bags.

The workshop is open to all interested growers and advisors to refresh or build their knowledge on crop root health.
